The list of things to be excited about

It just got a bit longer with the second Scott Pilgrim trailer.

Was that Egg from Arrested Development? Her?

(I will actually post the full list of things to excitedly anticipate at some point)

While everyone waits for Panda Bear's Tomboy

This will do very nicely indeed:

It’s a side-project of the Miniature Tiger’s singer, in which he builds melodic tracks out of his voice and vocal effects. And he pulls it off! Panda Bear-ish (or Animal Collective-ish) in places, Elephant 6-ish in others. At the least it’s worth listening to this single.

On Repeat; Tokyo Police Club

It’s hardly the world’s greatest ever video but it’s a nice enough single. Catchy.

Sex and the City 2: review of the year contender → thestranger.com

A Seattle paper’s fantastic review of a film about “gay men playing with giant Barbie dolls,” that I will most probably never see but is fun to read about. [Burkas and Birkins by Lindy West, The Stranger]

“The average frame (a movie has 24 frames per second) takes about seven hours to render, although some can take nearly 39 hours of computing time. The Pixar building houses two massive render farms, each of which contains hundreds of servers running 24 hours a day.” —Holy Christ. From Wired’s article on how Pixar Built Toy Story 3.

Paintings I would hang on my wall

Cool watercolours by Christopher St. Leger that look more like camera snapshots.

Record cover of the week

Innerspeaker by Tame Impala. Psychedelic, like the album, which you can hear at that link. Highly recommended if you like Dungen but don’t speak Swedish.

“‘proper work’ usually involves performing a task you hate on behalf of people you’d gleefully club to death with a bull’s knee if only it were legal to do so.” — Charlie Brooker (relevant because I have to get a real job now)

Thing of the day

Pet Sounds: In the Key of Dee by Bullion. This remix album is a couple of years old now, but I only came across it today because I am behind the times. Short review: it’s great! The tracks are short and to the point and make creative use of the original songs. It’ll sit nicely with The Grey Album and Enter the Magical Mystery Chambers on the (imaginary) shelves of my music library.

Thing that is the future of telly → engadget.com

I want this already! Sony, I’d also like it on the PS3 if possible.
